Who has time for love?

Certainly not Jocelyn.

Not with being a single working mom, fulfilling her maid of honour duties for her sister’s upcoming wedding, and the bitter cherry on top… dealing with her deadbeat ex.

Until she meets Sawyer.

The boxing gym owner is sweet, smart, and thinks stretch marks, muffin tops, and frazzled mom nerves are sexy.

But the scars from Jocelyn’s past relationship have her turning Sawyer down for a date.  Her expectation that she’ll never see the sexy boxer again fizzles when she discovers that Sawyer is the best man.

Sawyer needed this fresh start.

A new city, a new career.  And if that fresh start happens to include the gorgeous woman from the bookstore, even better.

Jocelyn is everything Sawyer wants – intelligent, loving, and mind-numbingly sexy.  Spending time with her and her children only makes him more certain she’s the one for him.

However, with Jocelyn’s past weighing on them both, she’ll need him to prove that he’s all in.  All in on a life with her and her children.  Not just for now… but always.

“Did Julie go to sleep okay?” Sawyer asked.

He was sitting at the kitchen table where she’d left him after they’d put Ethan to bed.

“She did.” Jocelyn leaned against the counter. “Thank you again for being a part of Ethan’s bedtime routine. It meant a lot to him that you read him his story.”

“Happy to help,” Sawyer said.

“Even though it means you’ll have to take an Uber now rather than me driving you home?” she asked with a small smile.

“Even then,” he said. “Thank you again for dinner. You’re a great cook.”

“I’m not sure you really got to eat much of it. Not with Ethan asking you questions every ten seconds and Julie stealing cheese off your plate every time you looked away.”

Sawyer laughed. “I ate plenty.”

“Well, I appreciate your patience with my kids.”

“I had fun,” he said. “They really are great. Also, Julie knowing sign language is very cool.”

Julie had shown off a few of her signs over dinner, including ‘eat’, ‘more’, ‘milk’, and ‘all done’.

“A lot of parents teach babies some basic signs,” Jocelyn said. “It helps them communicate and can cut down on frustration while they’re learning to talk.”

Sawyer drank the last of his water before standing and joining her at the counter. He set the glass in the sink, and she studied the flex of his forearm and his hand with its surprisingly long fingers.

He smelled good. So damn good, and Jocelyn let her gaze drift across his upper body. The t-shirt he wore was tight, and she wondered what he would do if she traced her fingers across the hint of muscle she could see through the fabric stretched across his abdomen.

She raised her gaze to his, her body starting to ache with a need that had gone unfulfilled for too long. Sawyer studied her, his eyes darkening and his nostrils flaring. Desire - a desire for her - was evident on his face, and her body trembling, she quickly turned and opened a cupboard.

“Wine,” she said, her voice too loud. “Let’s have some wine.”

Sawyer’s hand covered hers before she could bring down the wine glasses from the cupboard. “Look at me, Jocelyn.”

She swallowed hard and made herself turn. Sawyer reached for her before hesitating and letting his hand drop to his side. “It’s getting late.”

“It’s only eight,” she said.

“I can’t stay any longer, and I can’t drink wine with you, Butterfly.”

“Why not?” she asked.

“Because it’ll make me want to do things to you that friends don’t do to other friends.”

“What kind of things?” she whispered.

He leaned down until his mouth hovered just above hers. “Kissing.”

One long finger traced her jawline and down her throat. “Touching.”

“Sawyer,” she breathed, her back arching when he traced her nipple through her shirt and bra.

“Finding out what colour your pretty nipples are,” he said before leaning back and staring at her, his pupils blown wide. “Listening to you say my name as you come on my cock.”

“Oh God,” she said. “Those, um, those sound like very friendly things to do.”

He grinned, and she would have been embarrassed by the ridiculousness of her comment if his need for her wasn’t still so apparent. “Don’t they?”

She took a deep breath. “I want those things too.”
